There is a $6.95 USD processing fee per order. This is a flat fee regardless of the number of tickets or tours purchased on an order. There is a service charge per ticket. This charge will be reflected on your summary before you checkout. The total shown at checkout includes any fuel surcharges, service charges and tax. There are no additional charges, unless otherwise specified.

Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds. All sales are final.

Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can only be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center.

Important

Please make sure to arrive 30 minutes before the trip departure time; trips will not wait for late arrivals.

Alcohol and all controlled substances are strictly prohibited from the trip.  If you are under the influence of alcohol or any other controlled substance, you may be refused service without refund.

All participants are required to read, understand and sign a liability release form prior to participating on these whitewater rafting trips; parent or guardian must sign for minor children.

  • Safety/Orientation Lecture:  To make paddling easier and more fun, guides go over some simple pointers before shuttling to the river put-in
  • River Rating: Class 4 with some Class 5 Rapids (Scale of 1-6)
  • River Type: Steep Overall Gradient with "pool and drop" technical rapids

Optional Add-Ons

  • Wet Suit Rental - You may optionally rent a Wet Suit Top, Wet Suit Bottom or a Full Wet Suit. Wetsuit rentals include wetsuit booties and gloves. Combined with the standard gear supplied, you’ll just need to wear a swim suit under your wetsuit.

 

What to Bring/Wear

  • Towel
  • Non-cotton, synthetic clothing (preferably Polypropylene or Capilene) for added warmth when you get wet. This clothing is strongly recommended in Spring and Fall.
  • Change of clothing for the end of the trip
  • Shoes:  strap-on sandals or old sneakers
  • "Aqua socks" can be good to bring as well
  • Swimsuit or shorts
  • Sunscreen
  • Optional - Sunglasses (with a strap)
  • Optional - Hat 

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be enough water for my trip? -- Yes, the river is dam controlled.

How cold is the water? -- Water temperatures are typically 40-50 degrees F in April and May, 50-65 degrees in June, September and October, 70 degrees F in July and August.

Will I need a wetsuit? -- It's not absolutely required but they are worthwhile and available for rental if you do not have one of your own.  

Do I Need to Have Whitewater Experience to Raft? -- No, but experience is definitely a plus on the Penobscot trip. Minimum age to participate in this full river trip is 12 years old. No maximum age limit. Having normal health is advised. Non-swimmers are welcome; you'll wear awesome flotation vests. Further, there will be 6-8 guests per self-bailing raft, and your guide will be with you at all times. Just bring a desire to have fun!

What is a Certified Guide? -- He or she is an expert on running rafts down a river; tested, certified and registered by the State of Maine. There is a trained, certified and registered whitewater guide in every raft.
